Free Shakespeare comes to Lorenzi Park on October 23

Nevada Shakespeare Festival performs The Taming of the Shrew at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza.

October 17 correction: Removed a calendar end time that incorrectly matched the start. The organizer confirms a 7 p.m. start but does not give a running time.

The performance

Nevada Shakespeare Festival brings The Taming of the Shrew to Lorenzi Park for an evening performance on October 23. The production uses a play-within-a-play approach to Shakespeare’s comedy about Katherine and Petruchio, gender expectations and materialism.

The outdoor show starts at 7 p.m. at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza. Admission is free, and the city recommends the performance for ages 10 and older.

Before heading out

Use the festival plaza at 720 Twin Lakes Drive as the destination, rather than a generic park entrance. The city asks visitors not to bring pets or glass containers. Its official listing includes registration but does not publish an end time, so the calendar entry records the confirmed start without inventing a running time.
