A new garage is open

A five-story parking garage opened September 29 at 1421 S. Casino Center Boulevard in the Las Vegas Arts District. FOX5 reported the ribbon cutting that day, identifying the $32 million project as adding more than 500 parking spaces and about 10,000 square feet of retail space.

The garage charges $3 an hour with a $15 daily maximum. It also carries a five-story mural by local artist Victoria Hart, whose design draws on the desert landscape and Las Vegas visual history.

The revised parking plan

The city changed its parking policy before the garage opened. An August 26 announcement explicitly canceled changes previously planned for October 1, following neighborhood feedback and concerns about business disruption from the Charleston Boulevard storm-drain project.

Under the revised plan, Arts District employees can obtain a subsidized $10 monthly garage permit through completion of the storm-drain project, then estimated for January 1, 2028. Employee permits for designated 10-hour street spaces also remain $10 monthly.

The free lunch parking program continues from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and includes the garage. The city dropped proposals to add free morning parking before 11 a.m. and extend paid hours from 10 p.m. to midnight. Areas north of Charleston previously proposed for future paid street parking remain free through completion of the storm-drain project.

Drivers should follow the signs and permit terms for the space they use. The employee discount is a specific program, rather than a general monthly rate for every visitor or resident.
