The new facility
The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City scheduled its new $23 million visitor center’s ribbon cutting for September 19. The museum’s announcement highlights interactive railroad exhibits, a projection-map theater, educational programs and a research archive. Subsequent construction-industry reporting identifies the visitor center as opened.
The project also includes a welcome plaza and passenger boarding improvements. These additions give the museum more than a new entrance: they provide indoor interpretation and a different starting point for visitors exploring Southern Nevada’s rail history.
Planning a visit
The museum lists its address as 1000 Boulder City Parkway. Its published hours are Thursday through Monday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with train rides on weekends during its September-to-June schedule. Train rides and museum admission are separate offerings, so visitors should verify tickets for the experience they want.
The opening announcement specifically describes train rides from a new shaded platform and notes that fees apply. Families should use the museum’s current visit information for departures and any schedule changes, rather than assuming a grand opening program continues every weekend.
Opening versus future expansion
The visitor center is a completed phase. Reporting also discusses a possible future exhibit hall, but that should not be treated as part of the facility now available to visitors.
