A groundbreaking for a downtown housing project

Lennar held a ceremonial groundbreaking for The Foundry on October 15, announcing plans for more than 1,000 townhomes and detached houses near Las Vegas Boulevard and East Washington Avenue.

The approximately 70-acre redevelopment covers former Cashman Center and Grant Sawyer Building sites. Lennar describes a partnership with the city of Las Vegas and the state of Nevada.

Homes and pricing remain future plans

The builder expects vertical construction to begin in October 2027. That schedule separates this month’s groundbreaking from construction of the homes themselves. Prices are planned to start in the $300,000s; the announcement does not establish a guaranteed purchase price or a move-in date.

What the community would include

Lennar lists planned swimming pools, walking paths, shaded gathering areas, a dog park and children’s play space. The project is adjacent to Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park and the Las Vegas Natural History Museum.
